I’m glad that Cudder mumbles so much because his lyrics tend to be a string of words that should be in the Facebook statuses of angsty (pre)pubescent teenagers, not on rap albums. Still, the beats are great.

It’s been a little while since I put a rap track up here. Part of that is that the samples I’m hearing on 2 Dope Boyz and the like are pretty underwhelming. Another part is just that I’m paying more attention to dance and party tracks to bolster The Blitzkrieg‘s (the site is a work in progress) music arsenal. That being said, this Kid Vishis track is one of the first good independent rap tracks I’ve heard since the last Nas track we dropped about a week ago. Childish Gambino just released a new EP though so I might have a few more rap singles to post once I give the EP a listen.

New Childish Gambino EP today

Today, Donald Glover officially released his free “EP” on iamdonald.com . After my first once-over, I am truly impressed. Hearing him rap over indie tracks last year was interesting, but he didn’t have any musical coherency: the songs sounded forced, his voice was too pitchy, and everything was underproduced. The new EP rings a lot truer to what you could find on the radio, while maintaining the same wit and wordplay. Great evolution: I feel comfortable playing Childish Gambino for friends now! To be fair, I am a huge fan (has anyone else listened to Culdesac on repeat 5+ times?), so this EP really makes me a happy man. Download it yourself!
